The Supreme Court has removed Julius Abure as the National Chairman of the Labour Party, overturning a previous decision by the Court of Appeal in Abuja that had recognized him as the party’s leader.
In a unanimous ruling by a five-member panel, the court stated that leadership disputes within a political party are internal matters beyond judicial intervention.

The court also noted that Abure’s tenure had already expired.
This decision follows an appeal by Senator Esther Usman and another party member, which the court ruled as meritorious. The Abure faction’s cross-appeal was dismissed.
