Security operatives fired tear gas to disperse rioters during unrest on Kubwa Expressway near Efab Bridge in Abuja on Wednesday.
A viral video on X showed rioters setting tyres ablaze, with reports alleging that at least one person was shot.
Eyewitness Isah Abdul confirmed the situation but could not determine the cause of the unrest.
“The riot is around Efab Bridge on Kubwa Expressway. They are burning tyres, and gunshots could be heard,” he said.
FCT Police Command spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh, acknowledged the incident, stating that officers had been deployed to the area.
“I heard about it, and we have deployed officers. I will get the details when they are back,” she said.
