The Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Arc. Ahmed Musa Dangiwa, has announced plans to create an online platform for artisans.
This initiative aims to enhance the visibility, accessibility, and efficiency of trained artisans while improving service delivery in Nigeria’s construction sector.
Dangiwa disclosed this during a courtesy visit by Adamson Ayinde, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Industrial Training.
He explained that the digital platform, named “Uber for Artisans,” will connect skilled workers with customers while ensuring better employment opportunities.
“The platform will transform Nigeria’s construction industry by bridging the gap between supply and demand while promoting transparency,” Dangiwa stated.

The Ministry is also working on reducing Nigeria’s housing deficit by implementing several major housing programs nationwide for citizens’ benefit.
These programs include developing seven new cities across the six geopolitical zones and the Federal Capital Territory to improve housing access.
Additionally, 30 Renewed Hope Estates are being built nationwide, alongside ongoing construction of 10,112 housing units at 14 different sites.
These projects are expected to generate employment opportunities for over 252,000 Nigerians, significantly contributing to economic development and growth.
Recognizing the importance of skilled artisans, the Minister emphasized the National Artisan Skill Acquisition Program (NASA) for young Nigerians.
The program focuses on training artisans in plumbing, electrical work, masonry, and carpentry to meet the industry’s rising demands effectively.
The Ministry is currently completing vocational training centers in Abuja, Lagos, and Imo States to support this national training initiative.
Dangiwa announced plans to rehabilitate and upgrade these training centers within the next few months for improved functionality.
A committee will be established within three months to design training formats and engage stakeholders within Nigeria’s construction sector.
In response, SSA Adamson Ayinde praised the Minister for implementing the Renewed Hope Housing Development Program across different Nigerian states.
He revealed that his office, alongside COREN and FPAM, is proposing a six-month training and certification program for artisans.
This initiative aims to strengthen Nigeria’s workforce, enhance construction quality, and improve artisans’ competitiveness within the global labor market.
The Ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Dr. Shuaib Belgore, reaffirmed their commitment to providing affordable housing under the Renewed Hope Agenda framework.
