Hundreds of women in Akure, Ondo State, staged a protest against the abduction of nine surveyors at Ilu Abo community.
The surveyors were reportedly kidnapped by gunmen while working in a forest within Akure North Local Government Area. The incident coincided with attacks on four communities—Aba Alajido, Aba Sunday, Aba Pastor, and Ademekun—where several residents were reportedly killed.
Protesters carrying leaves marched to the state secretariat, demanding urgent intervention from Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa.

A protester, Mrs. Oluwatoyin Arowosafe, revealed that the kidnappers demanded N100 million for the victims’ release.
Special Adviser to the Governor, Bola Taiwo, addressed the protesters, blaming the surveyors for failing to secure police escorts. He suggested that internal collaborators facilitated the abductions and urged community leaders to take action.
