Housing Minister Insists on Quality, Threatens Contract Revocations for Poor Workmanship

The Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Ahmed Musa Dangiwa, has cautioned contractors against project delays and poor construction quality.

During his inspection of housing projects in Kano, including Renewed Hope Estate, Dangiwa condemned the poor quality observed at some locations.

He warned that contracts would be revoked if contractors failed to comply with approved standards and deliver quality housing units.

“We have instructed all contractors to maintain high standards because substandard work will be demolished and contractors held accountable,” he said.

Dangiwa urged contractors to hire local workers and complete projects on time since some will be commissioned in May.

The minister announced that pre-handover inspections would commence in April to verify compliance before houses are officially allocated.

With the 2024 budget approved, he confirmed plans to expand the federal housing programme to cover 18 additional states.
