A diesel tanker crashed along the Elelewon axis of Obio/Akpor Local Government Area, just a week after a similar accident occurred in Rumuosi.
Fortunately, no casualties were recorded, but the crash destroyed a high-tension pole, causing electrical sparks in the area.
Residents Rush to Scoop Diesel Before Authorities Intervene
Eyewitnesses reported that residents rushed to the scene to collect spilled diesel before security agencies arrived to stop the activity.
An official from the State Ministry of Special Duties was present to maintain order and ensure safety protocols were followed.
Authorities Assure Safety Measures Are in Place
Speaking on behalf of the commissioner, Gibson Oporoma, a senior official of the ministry, confirmed that all safety measures were enforced.
“There was no casualty of any kind, and all necessary precautions were taken,” Oporoma stated.
