A fire outbreak on Thursday morning gutted a seven-storey commercial building in the Iddo area of Lagos Island.
According to the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service (LSFRS), the fire, which started around 10 a.m., originated from an archival room on the first floor of the AG Leventis building, which houses commercial banks and the Nigeria Bottling Company.

Firefighters from the Sari Iganmu and Ebute Elefun Fire Stations swiftly contained the blaze, preventing further damage. LSFRS Director Margaret Adeseye stated that the fire was likely caused by rising room temperature, leading to self-ignition.
Thankfully, no casualties were reported, and investigations into the incident are ongoing.
