The Edo State Development and Building Control Agency has since sealed off the property, declaring it unsafe for habitation.

Speaking on the incident, Igabali Imoisili Darlington, Managing Director of the Building Control Agency, stressed the need for residents to vacate the premises immediately. He assured that experts would assess the damage before any decision on repairs or demolition is made.

Meanwhile, urban planning officials suggested that the building’s structural weakness may have worsened the impact of the explosion. They urged property developers to seek professional guidance when constructing homes to prevent similar disasters.
