The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, will commence the commissioning of six road projects across the six Area Councils
of the FCT on Monday, January 20.
In a statement released on Sunday, the Senior Special Assistant to the FCT Minister on Public Communication and New Media, Lere Olayinka, revealed that the event will kick off with the commissioning of the newly constructed 5km Naharati-River Ukya to Unguwan Hausawa Road, which includes a three-span River Bridge in the Abaji Area Council.
According to the statement, the 11km Yangoji-Sukuku-Ebo Road in the Kwali Area Council will be commissioned on Tuesday, followed by the rehabilitated 9km Paikon Kore-Ibwa Road in the Gwagwalada Area Council on Wednesday.
On Thursday, the Asphalt Carriageway from Garage Junction to the Local Education Authority Secretariat in the Kuje Area Council will be inaugurated. Meanwhile, the Gaba-Tokulo Road in the Bwari Area Council, which features a two-span River Bridge, is slated for commissioning on Friday.
Additionally, the Access Road to Saburi I and II communities in the Abuja Municipal Area Council, stretching from ONEX to Old Keffi Road near Dei-Dei International Market, is scheduled for commissioning on Wednesday, January 29.

Speaking on the FCT administration’s commitment to infrastructure development, Olayinka noted the progress of ongoing projects, including the Kabusa-Takushara Access Road, the Kabusa-Ketti Access Road, the access road to the new EFCC Academy in Giri District, and the 15km Road from A2 Junction on the Abuja-Lokoja Road to Pia in the Kwali Area Council.
He added that other projects, such as the reconstruction of the 25km Kwaita/Yebu Road in Kwali Area Council and the 4km Arterial Road N5 (Obafemi Awolowo Road) in Life Camp, are progressing steadily and expected to be completed as scheduled.
With these projects, the FCT Minister reaffirms his administration’s commitment to enhancing infrastructure and improving road access across all Area Councils.
