Residents of Makurdi, the Benue state capital, have applauded the Governor Hyacinth Alia led administration for the construction of 20 township roads in the ongoing Benue Urban renewal programme.
The residents, however, make a plea for the reconstruction of the 7-kilometer Welfare Quarters -Adeke to Achusa and some other roads which are in deplorable condition.
On May 29th 2023 when Governor Hyacinth assumed office he promised to among several others address the huge infrastructural deficit in the State.
Its about a year and a half since that promise was made; this special report therefore seeks to take stalk, focusing on his urban renewal program, particularly the 20 roads constructed within Makurdi the capital.
The road users will be a great place to start here around the Catholic youth centre which links the new GRA and another around Kanshio linking Adeke.
Fitted with concrete cast drinages and asphated pavements residents of the Akpehe area up to Wurukum are proud of the quality of work saying it will stand the test of time.
Ushahemba Godwin has resided along the 8th avenue off Iorkyako street in high level which is the city centre since he was born,he describes the deplorable state of the road for decades before its construction.
Although completely satisfied with the turnaround in their areas the residents have other roads they want the State Government to equally construct to ease mobility.
