FABCOM Reshaping Roofing Standards with Quality and Affordability in Nigeria

FABCOM Structural Limited, a subsidiary of Sinoma International Engineering Co., is revolutionizing the Nigerian construction industry by raising the bar in roofing standards and ensuring affordable building materials reach the hands of Nigerians.

This significant achievement came to the fore during Housing TV Africa’s exclusive tour of FABCOM’s state-of-the-art showroom and factory in Abuja. The visit was led by Festus Adebayo, CEO of Housing TV Africa, spotlighted FABCOM’s innovative contributions to local industry and employment.

Established in 2014, FABCOM is a major player in roofing solutions, specializing in stone-coated metal roofing tiles, long-span stone-coated roofing tiles, and colored steel long-span sheets. With factories strategically located in Abuja and Ogun State, the company boasts an impressive annual production capacity of three million square meters. These products have become staples in Nigeria and neighboring countries, thanks to their quality, durability, and competitive pricing.

Speaking during the tour, Managing Director Liu Huafeng and Deputy Managing Director Jackie Dai., emphasized the firm’s commitment to Nigeria’s development. “We are not just a private company; we are government-controlled in China. Our obligation is to develop Nigeria, provide jobs, and train local manpower,” he stated. Mr. Liu revealed that over 90% of FABCOM’s workforce in Nigeria comprises local employees, underscoring the company’s focus on localization and community development.

FABCOM’s Abuja factory features cutting-edge technology, including solar-powered systems, to address challenges like electricity supply. “We have invested in solar power to ensure seamless operations,” Mr. Liu noted, highlighting the company’s innovative approach to overcoming infrastructural hurdles.

One of FABCOM’s major selling points is its ability to manufacture high-quality roofing materials locally, reducing reliance on costly imports. This strategy ensures Nigerian consumers benefit from world-class products at accessible prices. “Our aim is to make Nigeria self-reliant in building materials. We want Nigerians to get the best quality without having to go abroad,” Mr. Liu explained.

He also disclosed plans to expand FABCOM’s footprint by establishing more factories in Lagos and other strategic locations, a move expected to further stimulate the economy and create thousands of jobs.

FABCOM is an affiliate of CNBM Group, the world’s largest building materials manufacturer and a Fortune 500 company. CNBM’s global portfolio includes cement production, glass manufacturing, and gypsum products, among others. FABCOM leverages this extensive expertise to bring global standards to the Nigerian market. “CNBM is number one globally in building materials, and we want Nigeria to be a significant part of this success story,” Mr. Liu affirmed.

During the factory tour, FABCOM showcased its cutting-edge roofing products, highlighting their durability and longevity. The company guarantees its stone-coated roofing tiles to last up to 40 years, ensuring value for money for Nigerian homeowners and developers. This durability, combined with aesthetic appeal, has made FABCOM a preferred choice for roofing solutions in the region.

FABCOM’s impact extends beyond roofing materials. The company’s commitment to sustainability and innovation includes utilizing solar energy in its operations and plans to introduce new building materials that align with global environmental standards. “Our approach is not just about today; it’s about building for the future,” Mr. Liu remarked.

Festus Adebayo lauded FABCOM’s contributions, noting its alignment with Nigeria’s quest for affordable housing and sustainable development. “FABCOM is not only setting a benchmark in roofing standards but also driving industrial growth and creating employment opportunities for Nigerians. This is the type of partnership we need to move the housing sector forward,” Adebayo stated.

The company is renowned for its innovative approaches to construction materials, such as solar-integrated roofing solutions and eco-friendly fiber cement boards, which enhance the durability and energy efficiency of buildings. Their dedication to quality and sustainability ensures that their products are both affordable and tailored to the specific needs of Nigerian markets, making modern housing more accessible to the average citizen.

By also importing only raw materials and manufacturing final products locally, the group mitigates the impact of fluctuating foreign exchange rates, ensuring affordability while driving industrialization in Nigeria.

As FABCOM continues to expand its operations, its dedication to raising the roofing standards in Nigeria while delivering affordable and quality materials remains unwavering. The company’s efforts are a testament to how strategic investments and localized operations can drive economic transformation and improve lives.
