The Lagos State Materials Testing Laboratory (LSMTL) has launched an online registration portal to enhance the testing of building materials in the state.
The initiative, introduced during the eGIS Retreat 2.0 at 21st Century Technologies, aims to improve efficiency, accuracy, and transparency in construction material quality assurance.
General Manager of LSMTL, Mrs. Olayinka Abdul, described the platform as a game-changer for building material testing.
She highlighted that it automates tracking and data capture, reducing errors associated with manual processes and speeding up operations.
“This software application captures and tracks building data to streamline the LSMTL’s quality assurance process for long-lasting structures.
This initiative will directly benefit all stakeholders, including potential clients and LSMTL agents,” Abdul explained.
The launch aligns with LSMTL’s broader strategy to enhance building safety across Lagos State. The agency plans to leverage data-driven insights from geotechnical investigations to recommend appropriate construction practices and ensure resilient infrastructure.
Enhancing Transparency and Payment Processes
The online portal integrates with the Alpha Beta Portal, enabling seamless payment and progress tracking for users.
Abdul emphasized that this innovation would promote transparency and accountability, ensuring clear and accessible processes for customers.
“This new system will uphold high standards in material testing services, making the process easier and more efficient for stakeholders,” she added.
Dr. Olajide Babatunde, Special Adviser to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on eGIS and Urban Development, reiterated the state’s commitment to leveraging technology for urban development.
“Governor Sanwo-Olu’s administration prioritizes public trust by enhancing services through technology and innovation, which is the focus of this retreat,” Babatunde said.
The online portal is expected to advance Lagos State’s efforts toward building a sustainable, resilient, and well-regulated construction sector.
