As the dry weather conditions persist, the Lagos State government has urged residents to be more safety-conscious and take proactive measures to protect themselves and their communities.

The Director General of the Lagos State Safety Commission (LSC), Mr. Lanre Mojola, issued the safety alert over the weekend, emphasizing the importance of prioritizing safety, especially as the year draws to a close.

In a statement to newsmen, Mr. Mojola highlighted the adverse effects of the current heat and dry conditions, which could lead to health issues such as dehydration, high fever, blurred vision, and extreme tiredness. He cautioned that these weather conditions pose significant risks to the health and well-being of Lagosians.

The LSC boss further warned against actions that could escalate the risk of fire outbreaks, such as smoking in public spaces and storing flammable substances or fuel in homes, shops, or stalls. He stressed that these precautions are critical in preventing fatalities during this hazardous period.

“Once there is life, there is hope for a better tomorrow. We can only hope for the best,” Mr. Mojola stated, urging everyone to adhere to safety guidelines.

He called on residents to support the government’s efforts by maintaining safety in their homes, workplaces, and the broader community. By taking these simple steps, Lagosians can contribute to a safer and healthier environment for all.
