The Chairman of Obio/Akpor Local Council in Rivers State, Chijioke Ihunwo, has announced plans to establish a new police station at the site of a recent building collapse in the Egbelu Mbaraja area of Ogbogoro Community.
During an inspection of the collapsed two-storey building, Ihunwo shared that the proposed police station aims to strengthen security and address community safety concerns heightened by the tragic incident.
The decision follows consultations with the State Commissioner for Urban Development, Evans Bipi, who visited the site shortly after the collapse.
The unfinished building, which was under construction, tragically collapsed, resulting in one death and leaving another individual critically injured.
