Ondo State Governor, Hon. Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has pledged government support to residents affected by recent floods in Ondo town following heavy rainfall that caused widespread damage.
During an inspection of the flood-hit areas, Governor Aiyedatiwa was accompanied by the Commissioner for Environment, Mr. Niyi Oseni, and the Special Adviser on Environment, Hon. Olayemi Adeyemi. They assessed the extent of the damage and discussed the immediate interventions needed to assist the victims.
Expressing his concern over the impact of the floods, especially on vulnerable communities, the Governor reassured residents of the government’s commitment to providing both immediate relief and long-term solutions.
“We are deeply concerned about the challenges these floods have caused, and we are already working to ensure that affected areas receive immediate relief and long-term solutions,” Governor Aiyedatiwa stated.
He further emphasized that his administration would prioritize rehabilitation of flood-prone areas and fast-track the completion of ongoing water channelisation projects to prevent future occurrences. The Governor’s visit reflects his administration’s proactive approach to addressing the state’s environmental challenges.
