The Affordable Home Ownership Option for All Soldiers (AHOOAS) project has officially commenced across the country, with sites in Awka, Bauchi, Enugu, Ibadan, Lagos, Oshogbo, Oturkpo, Owerri, Calabar, and Warri. Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony in Nsit Atai/Uruan, Akwa Ibom State, Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt. Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja, highlighted the partnership between the Akwa Ibom State government and the Nigerian Army on the AHOOAS scheme.

Lagbaja stated that this project is a testament to the success and viability of his new welfare initiatives aimed at boosting the morale of troops.

The vision of the scheme is to provide affordable housing options, enabling soldiers to own homes in locations of their choice with economically convenient discounted prices and payment plans.

He emphasized that the initiative is a continuous effort to address the housing challenges soldiers face after their service, by expanding their housing choices. This gesture is expected to significantly enhance the morale and fighting spirit of troops from the South-South zone, particularly those from Akwa Ibom State. Lagbaja assured the troops that they would have access to decent, modern, and well-constructed homes to retire to after their service to the nation.
