PSC Promotes FCT Commissioner of Police to Assistant Inspector-General

The Police Service Commission (PSC) has announced the promotion of Ben Igweh, the Commissioner of Police for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), to the rank of Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG).

Igweh is among 684 senior police officers who were elevated following a plenary session held by the PSC in Abuja yesterday.

The session was chaired by the PSC Chairman, DIG Hashimu Argungu (rtd).

The promotion list reveals that eight commissioners of police were promoted to the rank of Assistant Inspectors-General, while 15 deputy commissioners were elevated to full commissioners.

Additionally, 52 chief superintendents of police were promoted to assistant commissioners, 525 superintendents to chief superintendents, and 84 deputy superintendents to superintendents.

Ikechukwu Ani, the spokesman for the PSC, noted that the eight newly promoted commissioners and the 15 deputy commissioners underwent an assessment or examination as a prerequisite for their advancement to the new ranks.
