Kogi State Government Warns Landlords Against Renting to Yahoo Boys

The Kogi State government has issued a stern warning to landlords in the state, cautioning them against renting their properties to internet fraudsters, commonly known as Yahoo Boys.

Navy Commander Jerry Omodara (rtd), the State Security Adviser, delivered the cautionary message during a segment on “State of Kogi,” a participatory programme aired on Radio Kogi on Monday.

Omodara emphasized that landlords risk facing demolition of their properties if they continue to lease apartments to Yahoo Boys. He also disclosed that security agencies would soon crack down on hotels that serve as hideouts for these fraudsters, with severe sanctions to follow for implicated hospitality establishments.

Highlighting ongoing efforts, Omodara mentioned that the state government, in collaboration with security agencies, has identified properties suspected of being funded by criminal proceeds or housing criminal elements, affirming plans for their imminent demolition.
